A healthy vacuum pump operates with a consistent and relatively smooth sound. If you start hearing the following sounds, they are warning signs that should not be ignored:

  • Knocking sounds, which can indicate worn bearings or loose internal components
  • Grinding or squeaking sounds, a sign of worn seals or vanes
  • Unusual hissing sounds, possibly indicating a leak in the system
  • Excessive vibration felt on the pump body, a sign of an unbalanced rotor or damaged bearings
